4th Annual Red Mile Muster

The Red Mile Muster is the northern most sled dog race in Australia. The event venue is the Benarkin State Forest, 4kms east of Blackbutt on top of the D'Aguilar Range and about 2 hours north of Brisbane.

The event is AFSS, ASSA and IFSS pointscore event and Race 4 on the SDRQ calendar. Event heats are run Saturday and Sunday mornings.


Blackbutt / Benarkin locality

Blackbutt is at the top of Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, gateway to the Burnett region. In town you can get a decent coffee at the Blackbutt Bakery or the Bunya Nut Cafe. The Bunya Nut restaurant offers excellent meals and the local pub is just a few doors down


Trail base 

Trail base is located at the old forestry station 1km off the D'Aguilar highway. Developed trails offer a combination of straight and some winding tracks with gnetle turns and the odd switchback, gentle rise and fall with at least one good decent and climb.

Blackbutt showgrounds


$8 per person per night. Powered sites $10 per person per night. Hot showers are avaialble for a little extra. Adjacent toilets and plenty of space is available.

Collect registration form/envelope from the regulation station in the wlakway near the toilet block. Complete the form, detach the tag and attache that to your campsite. Return the form with payment to drp box.
